Message from Daniel Day: (VP Safety):
With the advent of the most recent weather event, Emergency Declaration #2025-001 has been issued with, in effect, covers just about the entire country. CLICK HERE to access it. Remember: you must log the exemption correctly. Here is the message on logging from VP of Safety, Daniel Day:
This is how the logging should be done:
Logging The Exemption:
You must include “390.23 LPG Emergency Exemption” in your logs for every duty status change including PC..
Every duty status throughout your day will be done in an off-duty status (Examples. Pre trip, Post trip, Fueling, Loading , Unloading)
All drive time will be done on PC – If it goes on the drive line, it cannot be repaired.
Every log must be certified at end of day.
If stopped for an RSI, please let the officer know that you’re on the exemption and be prepared to know where/how to show them the information.
Days will be limited to a 16-hour workday and a mandatory 8-hour rest break. The truck may not move for the duration of the 8-hour rest break cycle.
All logs will be monitored daily for use. If misused, the exemption will be null and void for that driver.
The settings for hours to be worked are as follows:
Work Hour Limit: Drivers are limited to a maximum of 16 hours on duty per day.
Mandatory Rest: A mandatory 8-hour break is required for each 24-hour period.
34-hour break: This will be required if you go from the exemption to a normal HOS load and have not had one while running the exemption in a 70 hour period.
10-hour break: This will be required once the exemption expires and the driver returns to normal HOS If the driver has already had a 34 hour restart in that work cycle or the driver moves to a regular HOS load after running exempt loads.
